hits it about right on the nail as far as what I'm referring to. Since FlightGear doesn't have some of those features, I can see how it could be more difficult to fly VOR to VOR when you're used to just setting and forgetting. Statto wrote:If I may throw in my two cents, flying IFR in MSFS is far too easy in my opinion - you set a flight plan, set the autopilot, cruise to your destination on the autopilot, twiddle with the heading for a few minutes to line up with the ILS runway, then have a few minutes of enjoyment as you try to smack the plane on the flat runway. I hope that if it ever comes down to it the FSF (Free Software Foundation) will file if they violate the GPL as well. However, trying to sell a clone and using your copyrighted material is something completely different. I could understand if someone created a completely different experience (like a combat flight simulator) with it and then sold it (that is so long as they followed the GPL). People are trying to sell MSFS freeware and payware alike all of the time, and it is indeed incredibly shameful. I can understand why you would want to be careful about this. To prevent that kind of misuse, we have imposed a stricter copyright notice on our images. Problem is that these people are even using our screen shots for marketing purposes. In particular because many of them are offering (paid) digital downloads, which essentially means they let customers pay for something they can retrieve entirely for free from us anyway. Although that is legal, it's a extremely seedy, from an ethical business point of view. The predominant reason we are restricting our copyright on the images is that, in the past, we've seen a few people make clones of FlightGear, and selling it under a different name. For stated purposes, this should be no problem at all.
